Los Angeles, CA – April 6, 2019
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Department of Interior Architecture at Woodbury University invites you to submit proposals that explore notions of critical interiority and the constructed environment, as well as the format(s) through which such content is generated and presented. Proposals will be double-blind reviewed by a panel of Woodbury University reviewers for presentation at the 2019 Unmentionables Symposium to be held in Los Angeles, April 6, 2019.
Authors are invited to submit proposals and research-driven design projects that explore a wide range of topics covering history, theory, practice, interdisciplinary inquiry, and any other subject of current discourse. Proposals are encouraged to interrogate the relationship of content to form, duration, and performativity. Duels, readings, serenades, movements, quarrels, arias, eulogies, sermons, happenings, fêtes, or other such modes of delivery are welcomed.
Submissions are expected to offer original research and design projects that have not been presented and/or published previously. Junior academics, members of under-represented groups and independent scholars/professionals are encouraged to submit materials for consideration. In order to promote a diversity of voices, a maximum of two submissions per author is allowed. This also includes coauthored work.
All submissions must be made by email. The author(s) has to attach 2 separate documents in Word format to the email. The first document is the proposal without any identification in order to facilitate a blind review, submissions must not include author(s) name(s), institutional affiliation(s), or any other form of identification, including; but not limited to identifying photographs. The descriptive part of the proposal should not exceed 200 words and can be accompanied by a maximum of one image. The second document must contain the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s), as well as brief bio(s), not to exceed 600 characters. The maximum size of the email, including attachments, cannot exceed 3 Mb. Submissions that do not comply with all requirements will be disqualified from review.
Please note that proposals selected for presentation have to be submitted in their final form by March 10, 2019. Ownership and/or clearance of images, as well as correct image credits are the responsibility of the individual author(s).
$25.00 for each submission. Payable below:
All presentations will be held in the format of panels. A moderator will introduce the connecting topic, followed by 20 minute individual presentations by the chosen authors, concluding with an open discussion.
